The WeINSPIRE Fall/Spring Internship program is built for talented college, graduate students, or community members looking for an enriching volunteer-internship opportunity. Our interns use the tools of social media and community outreach to instantly reach like-minded people and reinvigorate community-focused action. Volunteer internships are an important step in the development of a professional and WeINSPIRE is committed to providing quality learning opportunities for our volunteer interns.

Social Media & Community Intern                        

Location: Remote
Timeframe: Spring Semester 2020
Commitment: 15-20 hrs/ week

We’re looking for someone who lives and breathes social media to work with our team, by making our community as exciting, kind, and vivacious as it can possibly be. You’ll be working directly with our audience to put a spotlight on inspirational stories around the world and facilitate discussions around important topics highlighted in our content,

Within Social Media, you will support all digital platforms daily. Providing inspirational/positive content. You will work closely with the team to find social content (photos and video) that can be sourced and verified for use. You will assist with producing a daily social note of interesting stories and trends.

Successful Social Media Coordinator Intern Candidates Have:

  • Demonstrated success managing social media communities (Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Snapchat) specifically with a minimum of one-year experience in digital marketing or social media

  • Understanding of all social media platforms including optimization of content by platform and the nuances of each platform

  • Ability to adapt voice to meet brand guidelines and an exceptional visual intelligence with a "good eye" to identify inspirational/positive l content that will resonate with followers

  • A wealth of fun, creative ideas and a web-savvy exuberance to keep up with new technologies

  • A Bachelor's Degree (or for students, an in-progress Degree) with a strong academic record

  • BONUS: Experience with and the ability to collect and analyze information from multiple data sources to uncover insights, statistics, and trends; tools include but are not limited to, Simply Measured, Curalate, Snaplytics, Hootsuite, Facebook Insights, Google Analytics

Program Coordinator Intern

Location: Remote
Timeframe: Spring Semester 2020
Commitment: 15-20 hrs/ week

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with the CEO to develop, plan and execute fundraising campaigns, events and activities to achieve our fundraising goal

  • Provide administrative support and coordination for WeINSPIRE Ambassador program

  • Basic research and analysis of potential grants

  • Coordinate logistics for quarterly board of director’s meetings

  • Collect, compile, and report out on various types of program data

  • Develop an internship manual and promotional material and updates as needed

  • Write and prepare monthly electronic newsletter

  • Supporting special projects as/if requested.

  • Responsible for weekly “pulse check” with CEO

Minimum Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Demonstrated high attention to detail

  • Must be a self-starter and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint and/or Google Suite

  • Must be detail-oriented, with effective organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects/tasks and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Junior or Senior in college

Journalist/Writer/Reporter Intern

Location: Remote
Timeframe: Spring Semester 2020
Commitment: 15-20 hrs/ week

WeINSPIRE is looking for an Editor with a diverse set of skills and interests: editing stories, writing, and reporting, packaging of stories for distribution across social media, working with our network of contributors and helping to further optimize our journalistic strategy and vision.

We’re open to a wide range of candidates including undergraduate or graduates interested in an engaging opportunity with room for meaningful growth.

Primary duties include:

  • Editing and publishing 2-3 stories on WeINSPIRE”s site weekly.

  • Copyediting

  • Help coordinate and prioritize submissions from contributors

  • Help track the performance of published stories

  • Investigate additional headlines and images for stories to be distributed across social media

  • Obtaining permission for material

  • Write 1 original story per week, including highlighting our WeINSPIRE Ambassadors

Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or enrolled towards a college or graduate degree in journalism, languages, creative writing, or other relevant field

  • Creativity

  • Clear and precise communication skills

  • Fantastic writing skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Tech skills and Internet savvy

  • Strong familiarity with social media news outlets

  • Great people skills

  • Must be an excellent photographer Videography and video editing is a plus
