Internship Position: Multimedia News Storyteller

Job Summary: WeINSPIRE is seeking an Intern: Multimedia News Storyteller for a four-five month, fully remote internship. The intern will support daily content development and be responsible for ideation, sourcing, and creating social media content, including vertical videos, user-generated content, and photography. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in short-form social video editing and scripting, with a passion for Black, Brown, and Indigenous cultures and news. Internship Duration: February-May 2025

Responsibilities:

Interviewing, writing, and publishing 4-5 articles (500-700 words each) on WeINSPIRE’s site weekly.

Taking a multimedia approach to storytelling, utilizing photos, videos, sound, infographics, and timelines.

Appearing on camera to share stories through recorded or live videos, engaging audiences on platforms like TikTok and Instagram.

Drafting social media posts and sharing positive stories and news via various platforms.

Brainstorming and pitching human interest stories daily.

Assisting with copy editing and proofreading contributors' stories.

Tracking the performance of published content and securing visual assets for stories.

Creating compelling TikTok and Instagram content that drives engagement and grows followers.
Qualifications:
-
Education: Currently pursuing or holding a degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field; or equivalent experience in content creation and production.

Required Experience: 1-2+ years of experience in content creation, production, or related roles, which can include academic projects, internships, volunteer work, or independent initiatives.

Preferred Experience: Familiarity with content development tailored for Gen-Z and Millennial audiences, with 1-2+ years of relevant experience being a plus.
Skills:

Strong writing skills, with the ability to craft engaging narratives and communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely.

Excellent knowledge of broadcasting techniques, including on-camera presence, audio-visual production, and live reporting.

Strong communication and analytical skills; detail-oriented and outgoing.

Technologies: Fluent in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Asana, and/or comparable project management suite.

Social Media Knowledge: Experience with established and emerging platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter.

Location: This is a fully remote position. Candidates can live anywhere, with flexible hours for collaboration online.

The total compensation for this role is for six months. For an estimated 10-15 hours per week, this amounts to approximately $500 per month.
